If you have recently moved to Newcastle, then welcome! If you are looking for a church to worship at, we hope you will come along to Westgate to meet us. You can be sure of a friendly welcome.

New to the Area

Newcastle is a city that has undergone massive changes in recent years. Once depressed after the decline of traditional industries, a series of new developments has revitalised the city, including The Quayside's collection of bars and restaurants, the Centre for Life visitor attraction next to the railway station and the Grainger Town regeneration of the city centre. A brand new science centre is now planned for the site of the Tyne Brewery, which stopped production in 2005. Across the road is the spectacular St James' Park, home of Newcastle United FC. Like anywhere else in the city, Westgate Baptist Church is usually home to a smattering of black-and-white striped shirts.

A short walk across the River Tyne on the spectacular Millennium "blinking eye" Bridge will lead you to the Baltic centre for contemporary art and the Sage Gateshead music centre, both created in the past decade and bringing fantastic cultural attractions to Tyneside.

The coast and the Northumberland countryside are also both just a short drive away - we hope you enjoy our particular bit of God's wonderful creation.
